About this awesome adventure:
Saona Island has it all!
First let me tell you a little of bit of our history:
It was named “Saona” by Christopher Columbus in May 1494 in his second voyage to the Americas. Although the original name is Adamanay by the Taino Indians, the first inhabitants of the Dominican Republic.
The name Saona was to honor Michele Da Cuneo Columbus’s friend from Savona. and It has continued to be called Saona until this day.
Now let me tell about why you are really here: Saona Island!
Saona Island is a very popular destination for tourists and even for many locals. This Island is famous for the beauty of its beaches and has been used to filmed many movies scenes, such as: Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Blue Lagoon.
We are looking forward to traveling to the island and we will transport you in a speed boat. We will take a short stop in a waist deep natural swimming pool. Starfish are common in the area so keep an eye out for one.
Once we get to the island there are many things you can do. You can either run to the bar like I did or just relax by the turquiose water, take a nap in a comfortable hammock with a pina colada in your hand, or play volleyball.
Afterwards a Dominican lunch will be served with chicken, pork, rice, salad, fruit and of course the bar will be still open.
As we depart Saona Island we will travel back on a slow moving Catamaran with music, dancing at the rhythm of the waves, enjoying the beautiful sunset of the Caribbean and the lovely BAR still OPEN!
